How to Edit Your Product’s Website Subdomain
Pagewheel automatically assigns a subdomain name for your product, but you have the option to change it to better match your branding.
Reasons for Changing the Subdomain Name
Pagewheel automatically generates a subdomain name based on your product’s title, and this works well for the majority of users.
However, you might want the subdomain name for the following reasons:
- Match Existing Domain Name: If you already have a domain name for your product, it’s a good idea to have the subdomain match it.
- Shorter, More User-Friendly URL: A shorter subdomain can create a simpler URL that’s easier to share and remember.
- SEO Optimization: Adjusting the subdomain to include relevant keywords can improve search engine visibility, helping your product rank better in search results.
Important: Changing the subdomain name will break any links you’ve already shared.
Accessing the Metadata Box
You can change a product’s subdomain name in the metadata box.
To open the metadata box, navigate to stage four of the product building process.
Click the next button on the Delivery Page, and the metadata box will appear.
For more information, see Modify a Product’s Metadata.
Changing the Subdomain
After clicking the next button, the metadata box is displayed.
Here, you can change your product’s subdomain name.
Look for the URL below the image and change it to your preference.
The text should be lowercase, without spaces and special characters. You can use dashes (-) or underscores (_) instead of spaces.
When you’re finished, click the next button to save your changes.
Getting the Shareable Links to Your Product
After changing the subdomain for a product, you’ll need to share new links.
These links are shown after publishing your product.
You can also access them by finding your product in the product library and clicking “Your Links” under the product listing.
This will open a box with all the available links for your product.
To get the share link, click the button to copy the Sales Page URL.
For more details, see Get the Links to Your Digital Product & Website.
Publishing Your Changes
Users won’t see your updated metadata until you publish your website. If you’ve made changes since the last publish, you’ll need to republish.
Go through the product builder until you reach the last step. Then, click the publish button to apply your changes.
